Issue 03 / Weekly Reset
The Volunteer Coach Weekly Reset
A repeatable way to turn the same weekly coach-admin fragments into a plan, parent update, recap, next focus, and team reminder.

Most volunteer coaches do not need a bigger drill library first.

They need a weekly reset they can actually repeat when the week gets busy.

The repeat loop
Practice plan. Parent update. Game recap. Next-week focus. Simple team reminder.

The point is not to automate coaching. The point is to stop rebuilding the same blank-page admin loop from scratch every week.

Start with one plain note. Keep the context generic. Let the draft give you structure. Then review it like a coach before it reaches families or the field.

Step 1
Collect the weekly fragments

Use team-level details only:

Age group: U10
Session length: 60 minutes
Players expected: 12
Theme: dribbling away from pressure
Last game note: slow starts, better second half
Parent update needs: practice time, game arrival, jersey color
Reminder: bring ball and water
Privacy rule: Do not include player names, rosters, medical details, behavior notes, family context, or private evaluations.
Step 2
Ask for five usable outputs
Use this generic weekly context to draft:

1. a 60-minute practice plan
2. a short parent update
3. a simple game recap
4. one next-week focus
5. one team reminder

Rules:
- no private player data
- no medical, selection, recruiting, or development guarantees
- keep language practical and coach-reviewed
- make each output short enough to edit quickly
Step 3
Review the reset before using it
Can you run the first activity with your actual space, numbers, and equipment?
Does the parent update have one clear action, not five competing asks?
Does the recap describe the team, not private individual details?
Is the next focus small enough to coach this week?
Can the team reminder fit in one sentence?

The weekly reset is not a magic system. It is a way to make the recurring work lighter and more consistent.

The coach still decides what fits the players, the week, the weather, and the actual session.

Useful add-on prompt
Make this weekly reset shorter. Keep the practice plan runnable, reduce the parent update to five sentences, and turn the team reminder into one line I can say before warmups.
