The 10-Minute Practice Plan Workflow

Most coaches do not need a giant drill library first.

They need a reliable way to turn rough context into a session they can actually run.

This is the 10-minute practice-plan workflow I would start with.

Step 1: Give Generic Context

Use team-level details only:

Age group: U10
Session length: 60 minutes
Players: 12
Theme: dribbling to escape pressure
Space: half field
Equipment: balls, cones, pinnies, two small goals
Constraints: mixed ability, no long lines, lots of touches, one coach

Do not include names, medical details, behavior notes, family situations, or private evaluations.

Step 2: Ask For A First Draft

Create a youth soccer practice plan from this context.

Requirements:
- simple arrival activity
- one technical game
- one opposed small-sided game
- one final game
- clear setup
- coaching points in coach language
- easier/harder adjustments
- no long lines
- no private player data needed

Step 3: Review Like A Coach

Before using the plan, check:

- Is it runnable with your space and numbers?
- Are players active most of the time?
- Is there one main idea, not six?
- Does the final game connect to the theme?
- Can you explain the first activity in 30 seconds?

Step 4: Make It Yours

AI can give you a better first draft. It should not make the final call.

Change the language. Cut what is too complex. Add what your group needs. Keep the session alive.

If the draft feels too drill-heavy, ask:

Make this more game-like. Keep the same theme, but reduce standing time and turn the main activity into a small-sided game with scoring.

If it feels too vague, ask:

Rewrite this for a volunteer coach who has 12 U10 players, one assistant, and 60 minutes. Make the instructions short enough to read from a phone.

That is the basic loop:

generic context -> first draft -> coach review -> field-ready edit.

The win is not perfection. The win is getting out of the blank page and into a usable coaching plan faster.
